BB | Garnet to pink. Still a touch closed and restrained on the herbal, black-fruit nose, yet clean and transparent, with hints of crushed stones and citrus fruits. Medium- to full-bodied, exuberant and lively, with firm, layered tannins. Very long and refined. 93
MP | Straight out of the glass, this Brunello is smart, fresh, and sappy, with a major in spice and toasty aromatics. There is some supporting blackberry, cherry, and plum, but the white pepper, clove, fennel, and licorice steal the show. For all the aromatic fireworks leaping out of the glass, the palate is a rather staid affair, with some crumpled black cherry and stewed plum but lacking in complexity. 92
AJ | Dark black-red, but clear. Soft, warm, mellow, earthy; almost a toffeed note hidden away here. Concentrated and forceful but rather straightforward in style, and with oddly raw acidity. Another wine where the challenges of the vintage seem to have led to a slightly muddled result—though there is plenty to get your teeth into. 84
