BB | Deep garnet to tawny. Ripe, black fruit, tobacco, and leather on the nose, with prune, wet-soil, and medicinal herb notes. Full-bodied, rustic palate, with a slightly bitter finish. 88
MP | For many producers, oak clearly remains a default position, regardless of either the vintage or the quality of the fruit. This wine has an obvious nose of very ripe red and black fruit overlaid with the telltail notes of clove, cinnamon, and coconut. In the mouth, this has plenty of fruit but a surfeit of wood that leaves it lacking balance and looking angular. There is much to like here, and if you like obviously-wooded reds, then this is a sure-fire winner for you. 93
AJ | Translucent red-black. Warm, glowing, with some striking spices; a little freaky and uncomfortable. This is what you find on the palate, too. Much less concentrated than the best of its peers, and rather cough-mixture-like in style, though not unpleasant. 84
