BB | Garnet to pink. Intense and complex on the earthy, black-fruit, smoky nose, with prunes, blackberries, vanilla, rosemary, and thyme. Full-bodied, with big tannins, sweet, black fruit, and a long, clean, yet slightly overripe finish. 90
MP | The nose suggests an oak-fest, with cinnamon, clove, cedar, coconut, and charred wood. Underneath all of that, there are ripe notes of cherry, plum, and blackberry, but they are at least partially obscured by aromas derived from barrel-maturation. The tannins, however, are exceptionally drying and dominate the finish in away that is impossible to ignore. This ought to be much less attenuated to merit a higher score. 88
AJ | Dark, dense, black-red though no longer opaque. Some oak here, combining well with spicy fruits. Straightforward and rather light; not a lot to detain the drinker here, though sound enough. 83
