SR | This 2020 Schlossberg Riesling comes from a very warm and sunny vintage but shows a bright, precise, and flinty, terroir-driven and saline expression, whereas the concentrated and super-ripe fruit remains discreet in the background. Round and lush, it is on the palate that the generous nature of the vintage is revealed. The wine is intense, ripe, and exuberant, very rich but not broad, structured by serious tannins, fine bitters, and a mineral backbone rather than a playful acidity. It is a solemn expression of both Riesling and Schlossberg. 93
AJ | Pale gold with silver glints. A graceful, powder-puff Riesling, whose orchard and citrus (lime) fruit has an eau-de-cologne charm. Almost despite the charm and prettiness, this is very subtle, graceful, and stealthy, in best Schlossberg style. An outstanding aromatic profile. Gorgeous, fruit-forward flavors on the palate, with apple, pear, quince, and tangerine fruits and the non-fruit flavors we assign to stone, too. This has the confidence of the site that some of the others miss, while remaining very true to the aerial, Snow Queen, Schlossberg style. Terrific Grand Cru Riesling from a precious place. More power and tenacity than most Schlossbergs show. 94
AR | An appealing, bright, lemony green in color, this says Hello Riesling as soon as you stick your nose in the glass, thanks to an instant, fresh, lime--zesty quality that assails the nostrils, and a gentle spritz on the tongue; the same character follows through on tasting, with an initial citrus-zesty opulence that gradually turns to a sort of umami sourness and finishes on a crowd-pleasingly dry note. 93
