SR | Pure and flinty on the nose, with ripe and intense, slightly smoky fruit aromas, this 2021 Rangen reveals an intense and elegant fruit with savory tannins and mineral acidity. Reflecting the vintage, this is a rather lean and linear Riesling, with a fully ripe and intense fruit, though the acidity is a bit disjointed. 92
AJ | Pale silver-gold. Restrained (which is not what you expect from Rangen): fresh, warm, quietly "stony," but it is hard to find hooks beyond that. Clean and sound, though. An unexceptional wine, which is hard to believe, given the challenge the vineyard imposes. 80
AR | Pale lemon, youthfully fresh and aromatic, this has an initial fresh spritz and more than a touch of sweetness as you broach it; it's in the crowd-pleasing style, with nice, bouncy, fresh, citrusy fruit that's easy to enjoy, if not exactly love, and plenty of mouthwateringly juicy, fresh, citrusy fruit for most tapas-style dishes. Not sure about the long haul. 89
