SF | Incredibly deep uncompromising colour; a purple rim. nose of blackberry, fig and graphite; aristocratic of bearing for sure. The palate is typically broad, unhurried, allusive and resonant, nothing out of place, nothing forgotten. Most striking is the composure of the tannins, their ripe, fragrant harmonious integration into the ensemble and a refusal to compromise the structure, magisterial for sure. Regal of bearing and all encompassing in its deft composition, a really outstanding Figeac, hard to forget. 97
AJ | Saturatedly dense, midnight black. Very complex and refined aromatics here, combining the pure plum and damson of the fruit itself with fine spices, graphite, liquorice, cigar leaf and supple glove leather. Stirring and warming. The palate delivers on all these promises: concentrated and allusive, full and long, with bright architectural acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins. The varietal mix here delivers impressive resonance of flavour in ample, melting style, but that structuring acidity keeps everything moving, pert and fresh in textural and energetic terms. A long-term wine with wonderful wealth of detail.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2040. 95
MS | Fine, fairly closed, gently oaky, mineral, with the merest suggestion, already, of truffle maturity, and very persistent in the glass; a deep, rich, vital constitution, a grand and beautifully harmonious set of proportions; sweet, profoundly ripe and very lively at once, complex and searching, a Cabernet Sauvignon core fruit, Merlot flesh, Cabernet Franc aromatic complexity, all within a very fine textured tannin; gorgeously ripe fruited, racy with inner energy, complex, mineral infused, exciting; a wine of magnificent scope, tenacious, vivid, and with great resonant length. Wonderful. Drink Dates: 2035 - 2060+. 97
