SF | Mid gold hue, paler towards the rim. A very classic nose, botrytic fruit, crystallised citric and then yellow and green elements; for the orchards at the end of the season...a restrained and dignified Sigalas, less on the intensity of botrtyic fruit, and more on harmonious integration of the constituent elements. Balletic on the palate, tapering away and not cloying at all. Proof, should it be needed, that the results have been very heterogeneous this year as a result of weather patterns which some have handled with more prescience than others. 92
AJ | Bright gold, though not deep. Soft, attractive though undeveloped scents of sugared almond. cream, honey cake and pear tart. An intimate charm. Rich, glycerous and full on the palate, with real fattiness here (cream + lanolin) -- which is something that many of the Sauternes from 2019 seem to lack. Ample, honeyed, whipped-creamy, luscious, and packed with good things (including the pineapple and mango you can't take for granted this year). I love this down-the-line super-succulent classic Sauternes.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 94
