SF | Summer buttercup colour; very enticing. The nose is oaky from the get-go; by vanillin, coconut and behind that a swathe of tropical fruit; there is also beeswax, ginger and a hint of tangy lanolin, to heighten the mood of expectation. An example from the luxurious end of the spectrum, rich and indulgent, billowing with richesse and benevolence, but with enough lime-tinted acidity to hold it together and a surprising dexterity on the back of the palate which gainsays intimations of excess. 91
AJ | Bright mid-gold at present. Sweet and warm, clean and well-scrubbed, well-conditioned; but once again little allusion just now other than a vague sense of honey and malt, linden and ginger. There are aromas, but they are all in the offing. Promising for all that. On the palate, it has the Guiraud breadth and muscularity, with plenty of dried peach and apricot force; more vinosity and sinew than most; a power train of sweet fruit. This will last well. Little cream and chiffon, by contrast, in this tasty and exuberant Sauternes.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2039. 92
