SF | Rich ruby robe and an equally aristocratic aromatic, with red and black fruit, a savoury backdrop and a spicy subtext all conspiring benevolently to make a very favourable impression. The palate takes a slightly different direction however, and is leaner ,more feminine and fragile than expected; the concept of volatility comes to mind and a the profile turns from squat muscular and adolescent to a more delicate, dare one say vulnerable. Rather against the grain contextually and therefore hard to read... 89
AJ | Dark black-red, though not opaque. Clean, fresh, shapely, well-muscled, energetic, with plenty of woodland plum. Attractive though not notably ambitious; a touch woody. Pretty good on the palate for all that, with ample density; the issue is that the fruit is a little raisiny/pruney, without the fresh pristine sheen of the best. Very solid and satisfying wine for all that.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2024. 91
DW | Sweetly spiced, some cinnamon and vanilla oak, coffee and sweet black fruit, cola bean – something of Ribera del Duero to this, with a creaminess and richness of fruit and oak over high-country freshness. 88
