AJ | Very light, bright, translucent: garnet to fawn at the rim. A lovely scent here: bright, warm, enticing, glowing, and fleshy, with perfectly mingled fruits, earth and savoury notes. Super aromatics to this Serralunga wine, and admirably forthcoming, too. On the palate it is concentrated, dancing and allusive, laden with fine-floating tannins but built on a core of graceful pomegranate and cranberry: super stuff. The only qualification is that it doesn't quite have fruited breadth: the acidic wealth that opens out in the best wines and pulls all the nuances in to home. Styistically, though, it is spot on.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2036. 92
BB | Garnet to pink. Intense, tar, leather, black and red fruits, crushed stone, complex nose. Medium to full body, touch flat palate with overripe fruit and moderate finish.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2030. 89
MP | Pale, delicate, floral, notes of rose, Turkish delight, cranberry, wild strawberry, cherry and plum. The palate is a synthesis of the ebullient acidity, firm tannins and layers of complex and aromatic fruit. The finish pulls together all the various components and weaves them into a beguiling tapestry of fruit, tannins and acidity that lingers on the palate with great delicacy. This is a superbly accomplished example of traditional Barolo.Drink Dates: 2028 - 2040. 98
