AJ | Deep, clear black-red, with light garnet but no tile at the rim. Warm, ample fruit scents which have already begun their secondary journey, earthing down somewhat; some root-spice complexities, too. Refined and compelling. Another wine of great resource and breadth, with fine and arresting concentration -- clearly fine vineyard origins here. The fruits are sweet and warm, but the acid-tannin balance is a bit challenging at the moment ... yet another Serralunga wine which will surely be better with a little more age. (The aromatics here seem to have aged a bit more swiftly than the palate.) Super raw materials here and there is every reason for getting hold of a bottle or two. It just needs time.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2040. 92
BB | Garnet to pink. Closed, earthy, touch dusty, crushed white stones, flint, bitter cherries, complex nose. Big tannins plate well balanced by the layered fruit. Long and mineral finish. Needs some cellaring to show its bestDrink Dates: 2030 - 2040. 94
MP | Dusty and diffuse nose with obvious black fruit notes of cherry, plum, tar and stewed cherry. On the palate there is an enormous dose of astringent tannins alongside the developed black fruit. The finish succumbs to the tannins and the wine fails to generate any obvious pleasure. Drink soonDrink Dates: 2024 - 2027. 90
