BB | Deep core to pink rim. Mature, black cherries and prunes nose with smoke, dump earth, black truffles, spices, leather and tobacco. Full body with generous, layered black fruit, long and clean, Muscular wine, not for the faint hearted.Drink Dates: 2028 - 2040. 94
AJ | Dark, dense black-red: one of the deepest wines of the vintage (in our tasting) Lots of sweet (new-oak) spice. "Impressive" but for me a bit of a disappointment compared to the nuanced aromatic glories of the best of its peers, A touch monotonous if very forthcoming. Ditto for the palate. I'm really sorry, but I just don't like this heavy, torpid wine. This is Brunello, one of the great European red wines and capable of refined magnificence, and we have to aim for something with more finesse, elegance, detail, curl and lift.Drink Dates: 2026 - 2032. 85
MP | A huge nose with layers of empyreumatic notes including wood smoke, coffee, caramel and toffee. The tannins from a trustafarian's approach to new oak leave this lacking fruit and dominated by oak. This is a new-world approach to Brunello where one can definitely have too much of a good thing.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2028. 90
