SH | Dark ruby colour opaque, on the nose there are fragrant notes associated with oak more than fruit, polish, lavender, spice. a little heavy on the palate with dark, burnt liquorice flavours and heavy oak. Heavily extracted wine with a heavy handed style unfortunately masking identitity.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2035. 87
AJ | This dark, densely coloured wine from 2018 seems to have a little more saturation that its 2020 stablemate (wine 31). The extra two years in bottle have brought harmony but the style is a sweet one, with new oak still palpable. Dense and full, ripe, mellowing out well despite what must have been quite a forceful style to begin with. Anyway, just a point of comparison for this tasting.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2033. 88
MP | Huge amount of oak on display on the nose with vanilla, sweet spice, liquorice, cedar, vanilla, and coconut. The palate is awash in aggressive epicatechins and this robs the wine of balance. No doubt many will argue that this wine will age but the tannins seem to dominate the palate at the moment and a question mark remains over their eventual resolution. It lacks balance.Drink Dates: 2025 - 2030. 92
