AJ | Dark black-red, though just off opacity now. Soft, sweet, cherryish fruit over a leafy substrate; attractive, but without the classicism and density of the best of its peers in this vintage. Oak is quite evident here, too. Choice, fresh and lively, with very well-teased ripeness in this vintage; a wine both with freshness and lift and ample soft charm. Hard to think of a more accessible and instantly rewarding Pessac-Leognan in 2021 than this. Drink Dates: 2026 - 2032. 88
SF | Inky ruby tinged with purple, with an attractive nose of raspberry compote, Asian spice and loganberry. The palate is compact, deft of construction, but the grain of its tannins threaten to overwhelm and dry the ensemble, and its finish is somewhat abrupt. So far, so good; a workmanlike effort in a challenging year... Drink Dates: 2029 - 2039. 90
