BUY THE WINE

AJ | Dark, dense black-red. Vivid and lively, yet the fruit seems a little pruney, as if the struggle for ripeness was over-fought. Great breadth as always, of course, with much cask-related intricacy to enjoy. Big and broad, rounded and accessible. My comments on the nose stand for the palate, and that pruney note may not be what every drinker is looking for from 2021, but the structure is hugely impressive and there isn't even a molecule of unripeness in this wine. Soft, open, gratifying, ripe and sinewy. Much less density of fruit, though, than for the more exciting and vital Vieux Chateau Mazeret: the vineyard at its limits. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2035. 50
