Top sommelier Rodolphe Chevalier, twice winner of the Best Sommelier in Luxembourg, has assembled a superb collection of more than 3,000 of his favorite bottles at his bar-à-vin next door to the Musée National d’Histoire et d’Art in Luxembourg City.
With everything available to either drink on site or take home, there’s an Aladdin’s Cave feel to a list that covers most if not all of the world’s winemaking regions, including a great many old and rare bottles.
German Riesling is clearly a passion of Chevalier’s, with an almost bewildering array of producers, vineyards, and vintages. But his collections of Burgundy, Rhône, Bordeaux, and Piedmont are hardly less extensive, and Vinoteca may well be the best place in the world to try the delicate, rarely exported, but frequently brilliant wines of Chevalier’s home country.
