‘Discreet luxury’ are the watchwords at Almhof Schneider, a premium hideaway in the Austrian Alps.
The hotel houses two restaurants—the Almhof Schneider and the Wunderkammer—offering slightly different experiences but both achieving the stated aim of providing “refined, contemporary Alpine and Austrian cuisine”.
The hotel’s wine list fits into this ambience perfectly, with a wonderful compilation of classical local and international wines balanced with an appeal to contemporary fashions.
Discreet as it may be in its presentation, this doesn’t diminish the wow factor as guests leaf through its 46 pages of bins.
Almhof’s sommelier, Josef Neulinger, was named Gault Millau’s ‘Austrian Sommelier of the Year 2018’ and has continued to manage a cellar of some 25,000 bottles, scouting to select a wide variety of wines that never fail to satisfy or surprise.
