Me Wah (Hobart)

By Alex Hunt MW

Me Wah is titled after the Chinese phrase ‘exquisite setting’ and embodies a balance between elegance and simplicity. Located in Hobart, Tasmania’s capital city, Me Wah is renowned as possessing perhaps the best wine selections available not just in Tasmania, but Australia-wide.

With father and son working in sync – where Gordon Tso heads up the kitchen as Group Executive Chef and Chairman and son Stephen Tso is the Restaurant Manager – Me Wah represents a family-oriented team that exhibits first-class hospitality in a luxurious and heritage-inspired setting.

Sommelier Damien Byrne gained experience working under some of the best sommeliers and chefs in the country, assisting him in creating an extensive wine list and expert knowledge of wine pairings.

Me Wah prides itself on the concrete relationships it has forged with suppliers, producers and customers over many years. Dedicated controlled wine rooms and cabinets provide the professional care required to maintain some of the world’s rarest bottles Me Wah is honoured to have procured, as seen in its collection of Domaine de la Romanée Conti: DRC and Australia’s celebrated Penfolds Bin 95 Grange

Me Wah regularly updates its wine lists but is conscious of its environmental impact and as such the beverage team will make handwritten adjustments as opposed to an entire reprint.
