Quality Meats

By Thierry Dessauve

Stylish modern New York steakhouse Quality Meats has made its name with what it calls “modern interpretations of familiar dishes and flavor combinations.” And to go with immaculately cooked and presented classics such as Caeser salad, crab & avocado, and a range of steaks and burgers, the sommelier team has come up with a concise and considered wine program.

As the judges at the World’s Best Wine Lists put it, this isn’t, at 350 bins, a “huge list.” But it does include “some real gems” while the “presentation has been carefully considered”. Highlights include a set of Cabernet Sauvignon verticals (including 11 vintages of Araujo Estate Cabernet Sauvignon going back to 1992, and 10 vintages of Corison Cabernet Sauvignon back to 1989) which is presented alongside a set of meat-friendly alternatives to Cabernet featuring the likes of Bodegas Numanthia from Toro in Spain and LeLuSi Aglianico del Vulture from Basilicata in southern Italy.

With plenty on offer by the glass, and with each bin presented with a pithy line of descriptive text, the Quality Meats wine list is broad, international, and accessible.
