Saison

By Alex Hunt MW

Originally launched in summer 2009 as a pop-up concept in the Mission district, the award-winning Saison restaurant moved to its new location in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood in January 2013. The restaurant is best known for its innovation in fire cooking and Chef Joshua Skenes’ relentless pursuit of the very best products in existence. Saison’s tasting menus are paired with rare wine selections from small production labels from the restaurant’s 3, bottle cellar. The unrestricted floor plan of the dining room, bar, lounge and kitchen goes beyond the typical “open layout” and removes any barriers between the dining room and kitchen–allowing all guests to experience the intimacy and exclusivity of a chef’s table in a warm environment. The restaurant is located in an old California Electric Light Company building and features crafted wood furniture and artwork, along with fine linens, Zalto stemware, and hand-made tableware. Saison has a 4-star rating from the San Francisco Chronicle and a 3-star rating from the Michelin Guide. Saison is a distinguished member of Relais&Chateaux and is the only restaurant in California to place at the at the World’s 5 Best Awards in 2016 and 2017.
