B & B Ristorante

By Thierry Dessauve

B&B Ristorante is another hit restaurant for Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, with the pair bringing their trademark fine Italian food and relaxed ambience from New York City to Las Vegas.

Amusingly summing up the vibe as one that “captures the soul of an Italian grandmother dancing the tango with pop rock hipsters,” B&B’s menu features much-loved Batali signature dishes such as beef cheek ravioli with black truffles and crushed duck liver or whole grilled branzino with herb and fennel salad.

And the wine list is a similar mix of the modern and the traditional, providing a long, engaging vinous tour of the highlights of modern Italian wine.

A stellar collection of Piedmont’s and Tusany’s big guns—from Bruno Giacosa to Ornellaia, and from Giacomo Conterno to Sassicaia—including many older vintages is one highlight for high-rolling guests. But the list is by no means confined to the obvious classics. Whether it’s Refosco from Friuli, Petite Arvine from the Valle d’Aosta or Nerello Mascalese from Sicily, the list has most Italian bases covered. And, as ever with Batali and Bastianich, there’s a range of wines available by the quarter-litre flask, including a neat selection of fine wines that makes use of the Coravin.
