A smart, luxurious update on the traditional American steakhouse in Long Island, Blackstone is all about the details.
That might mean an extensive sushi and sashimi menu alongside the prime cuts of beef and Maine lobster, or it might mean the quarried stone and natural wood of the décor.
More pertinently for the purposes of the World’s Best Wine Lists 2015, it also means one of the USA’s very best wine cellars.
Running to some 850 bins, it’s a list that the judges said “is just the right size” for its purposes, providing plenty of choice in terms of both style and format (including a thoughtful by-the-glass program) but without ever feeling unwieldy.
Among the highlights are, as you might expect of a restaurant of this kind, a fine list of American red wines, with Oregon, Washington State, and even Long Island included alongside the rollcall of Californian classics. But there is also plenty here from all over the world, on a neatly arranged and easily navigable list.
