Hostellerie Du Pas De L’Ours

By Thierry Dessauve

If you were looking to learn more about the wines of Switzerland—and specifically the wines of the country’s largest wine-producing region, Le Valais—then you would be hard-pressed a better place to start than the Hostellerie du Pas de l’Ours in the Swiss village of Crans-Montana.

Curated by sommelier Yvonnick Jaunet, the Pas de l’Ours list features one of the world’s largest ranges of wines from the region, arranged by grape variety and producer, and accompanied with detailed historical, geographical, and viticultural notes.

From Denis Mercier’s Chasselas to Arvine from Jean René Germanier, and from Cornalin from Marie Bernard Gillioz to Pinot Noir from Henri Valloton, the list offers a vivid snapshot of the modern Valais wine scene.
