Qatar

By Thierry Dessauve

Qatar Airways

Selected by a panel of wine experts that includes two Masters of Wine, and served by highly trained staff (many with Wine & Spirit Education Trust qualifications), the wine program at Qatar Airways continues to impress.

Limited to just eight wines in each class, the picks are consistently good, with a focus on classic Europe. With wines such as Domaine Marc Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 2008, Domaine Weinbach Furstentum Grand Cru Vendanges Tardives Alsace 2008, Château Léoville-Poyferré 2008, and Kopke Colheita Port 1974—not to mention a choice of Krug Grande Cuvée or Bollinger Rosé Champagne—a first-class flight offers a lot of drinking pleasure.

But choices in business-class such as Dr Loosen Erdener Treppchen Spätlese, Mosel 2008, Château Monbousquet St-Emilion Grand Cru 2006, and Frescobaldi Castelgiocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2003 aren’t too shabby either, in what is a classy, classic wine program.
