Drawing on ingredients from local suppliers—and they don’t come more local than the restaurant’s own urban farm—Tom Colicchio puts the emphasis on seasonal modern cuisine full of fresh flavors at Riverpark in Manhattan’s Kips Bay neighborhood.

Highlights from the dinner menu at the time of judging the World’s Best Wine Lists awards included first courses of hamachi crudo with mostarda pears, Sicilian pistachio, gingersnap tuile, and ruby streaks or an baby octopus with winter squash, pomegranate, togarashi, shiso, and seaweed vinaigrette, while roasted chicken with cranberry, parsnip, red Russian kale, spaetzle, and rosemary, or diver scallops and pork belly were among the main courses.

The immaculate modern cooking is complemented by an international wine list that the WBWL judges described as “outstanding. The presentation is great,” the judges continued, “well written, spacious and attractive,” while the “choice is well-balanced from around the world, and featuring sensible choices by glass, half, and large format.”

Highlights include a “bold” focus on Chile featuring quirky choices such as Louis-Antoine Luyt’s Maule Carignan and País, and Bodegas Re Velado “yellow wine” from Casablanca as well as flights of top Cabernet such as Domus Aurea; and there is space for lesser-known varieties such as Romorantin and Sylvaner alongside an extensive set of classics from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italy, Spain and the USA.
