Wine is very much at the heart of things at Rotterdam’s Vineum: the name itself comes from the Latin for vineyard, and the wine list is among the very best in the Netherlands.
Certainly that was the view of the judges at the World’s Best Wine Lists 2015, who said: “While this is not a huge list at around 250 bins, what is there is clearly painstakingly selected and there is a real balance and harmony to the list.”
It’s also beautifully presented (the WBWL 2015 judges “loved the use of Jancis Robinson MW’s maps”), and, in keeping with the restaurant’s affordable ethos, “pricing is good throughout.”
Featuring a diverse roll call of producers from Coche-Dury in Burgundy to Masciarelli in Piedmont, and from Blandy’s in Madeira to Van Volxem in the Saar valley, it’s an accomplished compilation of European classics from which diners are sure to find a match for the modern French and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
