Simon Field: Powerful and dense; magisterial tannins and firm, shrouding fruit; the mid-palate has impressive weight, its tannins ripe but in no way intrusive; big-boned and serious; one to follow certainly; hitherto, as one would expect, youthful and somewhat unformed, but there is great potential here, and it captures all that is good about the category: great power, but an almost preternatural elegance. | 93
Andrew Jefford: Dense, dark, saturated black-red. Earthy, warm, spicy, animal, plum, and blackcurrant fruits: complex and enticing. This is deep, searching, and has some succulence and wealth of fruit; an excellent effort with this rather troubling vintage. The ever-dry tannins are better bonded to the sweetness of fruit in this wine than in many; it has some aromatic complexities. There is more flesh here than for most, and not too many bitter notes to finish. | 90
Richard Mayson: Deep, inky, and opaque; closed, dense on the nose, with underlying intensity; rich and powerful initially, full of ripe berry fruit backed by broad, ripe tannins, all there, power and finesse, a glorious peacock’s tail of a finish, and great purity which reemerges at the end. Very impressive wine, with a long future ahead. 2025–60. | 84
