Simon Field: Youthful, dark color and an appropriately serious nose which boasts sous-bois, lavender, herbs, and forest floor. The palate reverberates to sepulchral voices, dark, resonant, and at the same time dignified; compote, raisin, and a hint of prune; an already nicely defined sample, in other words, the only impediment to harmonious development maybe the very firm acidity, which jars a little for the time being. | 90
Andrew Jefford: Saturated, dark black-red, with more purple than for many. Very fresh, almost herbaceous aromas, with lots of cassis and lots of Darjeeling tea leaf, too. Super-concentrated, almost painfully so on the palate, with intense bore-like driving tannins and relatively dry, brisk black fruits. A taut, tight, almost clenched Vintage Port that will resist time well enough—but when will it begin to charm? Charm is possible, at least, whereas some of its vintage peers seem a little charmless. | 89
Richard Mayson: Deep youthful hue; deep and dense on the nose, hint of berry fruit and hedgerow but still tight and withdrawn; not big and already quite accessible, showing lovely purity of fruit, with firm, peppery-spicy tannins rising in the mouth, leading to a rather linear finish, verging on lean. Drink 2025–55. | 88
