Stephen Brook | Lightly herbaceous lime nose, brisk and vivacious. Medium-bodied and delicate, this is also a touch sweet, at least in comparison with other wines here. That’s not disagreeable but it comes as a slight jolt. Moreover, the acidity is modest and thus it lacks length and punch. Disappointing in this context. | 84
Andrew Jefford | A full green-gold here. Fresh, leafy, earthy; aromatically, this is the most profound, pure, and finely constituted of the Chêne Marchand set. A super nose, which sums up perfectly the “shadiness under the oak” profile of this cru. After five minutes in the glass, this character has intensified somewhat, and almost begins to smell walnutty, losing a little of its initial charm. A super wine, with lots of green, leafy drive; concentrated yet far from monothematic; rich yet fresh at the same time. There’s a little lime here; not many “stony” notes; ample leafy fullness. | 91
Stephan Reinhardt | This Chêne Marchand opens intense and elegant, concentrated, and with spicy scents framing the white currants. Full-bodied and elegant, with remarkable finesse and a playful acidity, this is a dense, intense, full-bodied Sancerre that is built on structure and refined elegance. Impressive on the finish. | 93
