Jamie Goode | Supple and ripe, with a delicious, meaty, black-olive overlay to the sweet dark fruits. There’s a faint sappy greenness alongside the black-cherry and super-ripe blackberry fruit, with haunting notes of herbs, pepper, and decaying leaves. Lots of interest here. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red though translucent, not opaque. Bright, pungent redcurrant fruits; a hint of rubber, but overall the fruit is in the driving seat, so the aromas are not disagreeable. The aromatic profile is very much what the palate delivers: intense, searching, acid-driven fruits with that rubbery (or perhaps smoky) note bringing some non-fruited complexities. Little tannin means a smooth texture, and there are some agreeably cleansing bitter notes in the finish. | 86
David Williams | Fully spicy-meaty and hedgerow-juicy nose—a ripe, full style but really expressive and savory, lots of meaty intensity and keen, tangy red fruit. Juicy and aniseed-inflected finish, a wash of minerals, too. Very convincing smart Rhône-ish Syrah. | 93
