Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | A tiny harvest but a success—as memorable as the legendary 1961: exceptional breadth and velvet texture, great length, an incredibly fresh resurgence of tannins. | 97–98
Michael Schuster | Fresh, vital, mineral, a very intense and very complex nose, long and subtle and delicate; full, deep, rich, tannic, and sufficiently fresh in acidity to define; very black cherry-ripe, very succulent, generous and fleshy yet structured, too, a subtle, racy energy to taste, with wonderful fruit-fragrant persistence on the finish. Power and delicacy. If sensitive to it, you might notice the alcoholic weight to some extent, warmth and a faint bitterness, but it’s a pretty remarkable wine, and a very individual expression of Palmer. (The yield was so low that there is no Alter Ego this year.) 2033–53+. | 94–95
