Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Extravagant and open nose, ripe fruit, velvety flowers, pronounced smoky notes; dense in the mouth, with an elegant depth, tannins as fleshy as they are firm, nice length and tension. The most complete Carbonnieux for many years. Incredible charm and great potential. Will it be similar to the magnificent 1959? | 93

Michael Schuster | Very ripe, faintly earthy; rich middleweight, firmly tannic, fresh in acidity; long and juicy to taste, a light complexity and good length of fruit both to taste and to finish; quite generous for Carbonnieux, the tannins not yet quite as fine as they could be. Good—but not at top of the commune. 2028–40+. | 89–91
