Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | A grandiose aromatic intensity and freshness. Balanced and elegant thanks to the depth of the taut tannins. This cru stands out yet again for its most beautiful construction. | 96–97
Michael Schuster | finely oaky to smell, black-fruit ripe; faintly sweet and rotten, already a sense of decadence, with suggestions of truffle, of undergrowth; ample, tannic, powerful but not coarse; very sweet, deep, long, and racy, enveloping, very finely tannic; a richly Burgundian impression, gently warm but not hard, and very long to finish, full of throatcoating, mouth-suffusing aromas. A magnificent and, like the Roc de Cambes, very individual wine, a most individual combination of delicacy and dynamism. Its delicate, refined firmness and subtle oak-wood aromas due in a major part to the top-notch, top-price (€1,500) Radoux Blend barrels, fashioned from the closest grained of very old oaks. Magnificent wine of its type. 2033–60.
