Simon Field | Green gold color and a distinct aroma of creamy oak, betrayed by viscosity in the glass and a flamboyant gras character. The palate is suitably weighty, cavalier, and rounded; plums and mangos in the ascendant, the lick of oak corseting the ensemble but the ensemble is still in a state of tension. The promise of honeyed richesse is hitherto unfulfilled, but the redemption is clearly rejoined with a linear salinity that stretches the palate with rigid and harmonious dexterity. | 93
Andrew Jefford | Clear pale steel-yellow in color. Earthy apricot with a little ginger; stylish. This is a fresher, higher-acid style than many, but it’s not in any way aromatically deficient either, and there is some cream on the palate to cosset and charm. The soft acids combine with the ginger to give this very good Condrieu plenty of lift and poise. | 89
John Livingstone-Learmonth | Steady yellow robe. The bouquet has a trim fatness of Viognier at its heart, pear and apricot, white-plum fruits that are nicely broad across the glass. The palate is well endowed with some style in its gras richness and continues well to a nicely extended finish. It’s very well linked between nose and palate, and its balance is on the button. Stylish Condrieu here. 2020–21. | 91
