BUY THE WINE

Simon Field | Attractive luminous nose; a peachy come- hither appeal. Behind this, and we are in the orange grove, in the south of Spain, and here there is a web of unattributable sunny promise; the palate is rich and forward, but the acidity cuts a swath, and the fruit character is nicely tempered by hints of herb and soft spice. We are not far from the boudoir, it has to be admitted, but there is a semblance of decorum, nonetheless, all things to all men, the oaky resonance structurally edifying, the fruit flourish providing a resonant crescendo. | 93

Andrew Jefford | Deep mid-gold. Gorgeously rich, creamy- toasty aromas, though if you are addicted to the floral side of Condrieu, this is a little less prominent. Almondy and enticing, however, and some fresh lemon-juice fruit for balance. On the palate, the wine is vivid, lively, energetic, and assertive, with more prominent acidity than the aromatics led me to expect. Nuts and root spice lie behind the juicy lemon-peach fruits. An excellent effort. | 89

John Livingstone-Learmonth | Full yellow color, a ripe aspect. Broad, Sensurround bouquet, with buttery, pear-in-syrup airs: a classic rich Condrieu nose here. There’s a shimmer of mineral to keep it clear. The palate is richly endowed, a grounded wine with pear and near-glazed brown-sugar notes in the flavor. The aftertaste is robust, in tune with the rest of the wine. It’s ample enough for soft cheese and big-flavored fish such as tuna, or sweetbreads, traditional French cuisine. It kicks pretty hard on the finish. 2023. | 89
