Simon Field | Attractive honeysuckle aromas; nectarine and poached pear; broad and assertive, full of teasing potential. The potential is realized on the palate but does not overindulge—decadence needs to be kept under control, after all. There is a gras, for sure, but not in a caricature, and the mid-palate holds a disciplined sway. From the less extrovert end of a rather pretentious classroom, this is a well-crafted and elegant example. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Clear lemon-gold. Another truly outstanding aromatic profile here: pure, long, refined, elegant. Cascading fruit blossoms, beaten cream, and pounded almonds in fresh and enticing style. Very hard not to sip once you have had a sniff of this. In the mouth, the wine is intense, fresh, and lively in a “granitic” or “mineral” kind of way rather than by dint of overt fruit acids, but it finishes creamy, long, almost faintly tannic, and there is a power of aroma hidden in the backdraft once you have swallowed. Excellent Condrieu. | 92
John Livingstone-Learmonth | fine yellow robe. The nose is restrained, now possibly in transition between youth and second stage. There’s a buttery aspect, a hint of Riesling petrol, exotic fruits in the mix. It gives an interesting start. The palate is a neatly assembled affair, also on the quiet side at present, with fine length. It has an appealing delicacy and detail in its makeup, even if the dumbness holds it back. Decanting and waiting until spring 2019 are both helpful here. 2021. | 87
