Simon Field | Golden, luminescent; forthright assertive nose, hints of tarte tatin and mandarin; the palate is generous and floral and with an exotic edge redolent of mango and banana; very complete, but not without structure. Balancing acidity and a linear backdrop. Concentration, which is sometimes missing in this tricky vintage, but it still lacks for a real flourish. On a second tasting the aromatic appeal seems to have dissipated somewhat. | 90
Andrew Jefford | Pale lemon-gold. Cream and spices: fine-grained, teasing, fresh. Outstanding aromatic finesse here: real class and refinement, with some toasted almond backing up with cream, the spice, and the quiet blossomy fruits. On the palate, too, this is a concentrated, viscous, lushly textured, mouth-filling wine with huge power, depth, and allusiveness, and nothing obvious at all. A mouthful of cream and blossom and pounded almond: gorgeous. It’s so young that it really needs another six to nine months to unfold but brilliant quality. | 93
John Livingstone-Learmonth | fine yellow robe; robust, even dense nose, very 2017 in style. It combines pear fruit, pear skin withatouch of orange zest, ginger spice, and oak toast. The palate presents tangy content, is bundled together, just a little coarse on the second half. Table wine rather than apéritif wine. I feel it could have been pressed more gently pre-fermentation. 2021. | 84
