Simon Field | Green to gold color; a gentle luminosity. Correct aromatic of green fruit and a citric undertow; almost flinty in its composure, far from austere, of course, but a measured subtle expressionism. The palate is rather more flamboyant, guile and grip, a lot of mid-palate weight, cherubic composure, and a desire to spoil. Acidity a little light; the crescendo somewhat understated. Hints of almond and amertume noble at the back, but no salinity. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Clear bright yellow. Lots of sweet appeal, but without the subtlety and refinement of the best of its peers. A very pretty scent, nonetheless. On the palate, it is as close as Condrieu ever gets to juicy freshness while retaining absolute classicism. There’s plenty of aromatic finesse on the palate, too, in contrast to the aromas. (These, in fact, develop and amplify with time in the glass.) Sure- handed craftsmanship here, and a shapely palate, with fair concentration. | 90
John Livingstone-Learmonth | Steady yellow robe. There are citrus touches in the nose, with greengage plum, white fruits, and a note of flan that just increases its depth. The palate drinks close to its best now, as an apéritif or a wine for refined cuisine, clear flavored dishes, or steamed Japanese cooking, for example. There are hints of oak on both nose and palate, with some tang on the aftertaste—a grip that holds it together. It doesn’t reach for the sky but is enjoyable and straightforward. 2020. | 88
