Simon Field | Gentle color; straw and citrus, a playful hint of plummy excess; thereafter a yoghurt caramel character, weighty and rather abrupt on the finish, which has a certain burn and a rather energetic dimension | 88
Andrew Jefford | Mid-clear gold. Doughy, dark, deep: flowers, moist spices, moist Scandinavian pipe tobacco. This is exotic and enticing, as well as powerfully aromatic. Both sweet fruits and bitter notes are apparent here in this structured, rather muscular and forceful Condrieu. It lacks the charm of the best of its peers, but there is no mistaking its origin, and it has satisfying depths. | 88
John Livingstone-Learmonth | Ripe, pear-toned robe. Notes of aniseed, almost cordite, lead the wide bouquet, withatypical cooked-pear backdrop, hints of apricot. The palate sits on a ball of white fruit content, has a little tannic lining on the finish, is sturdy. It’s tucked up today, in flux post-youth, and will benefit from decanting and, better still, leaving until mid-2019. 2022. | 88
