Bruno Besa | Tawny to pink. Intense, elegant, orange-peel and wild-strawberry nose, with rosewater, mineral notes, and hints of herbs and animal undertones. Medium to full body; sweet, complex, red-fruit palate, layered with super-refined tannins, and a long, fragrant finish. A classic Barbaresco. | 94
Stephen Brook | The nose shows some exquisite Nebbiolo perfume that has been lacking in many of these wines: ripe cherries and raspberry compote, but nothing stewed or overripe here. The attack is broad and the palate fleshy, with good weight of fruit and fine concentration. This is all balanced by fine acidity that gives the wine drive and persistence. The tannins are beautifully judged and contribute to the wine’s excellent balance. Moreish, which is not always the case with this demanding grape. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Clear deep garnet red. Gently teasing, beautifully ripened fruits: an exhalation of ripe pomegranate and redcurrant. Sweet-toned and graceful, with soft soap lather and sweet leather complexities. In the mouth, the wine is generous, well rounded, and beautifully ripe, earthy, open, lifted, and mouth-filling. The Barbaresco synthesis of wealth of flavor and grace of expression is memorably realized here. It finishes with a flourish of tarry redcurrant, leather, and walnut. Grand stuff. 2018–27. | 92
