Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Intense, open, mineral, complex, muscular nose, with bing cherries, dried roses, forest undergrowth, and dried herbs. Medium to full body, with sweet cherry and prunes fruit, mineral, with refined tannins and long, complex, crushed stones and sweet leather finish. Generous and complex Nebbiolo with long life ahead. | 94
Stephen Brook | The nose is ripe but not overripe, so a bouquet of red fruits—cranberries, redcurrants— comes through clearly, with poise and finesse. The attack is fresh and limpid, and this has the vigor and fine-tuning that many of these 2015s lack. It’s concentrated and has firm ripe tannins to give backbone to the fruit. There’s some mocha on the finish, which suggests some adroit barrique aging, but it’s in check. A wine with energy, finesse, and drive, and a long, firm finish. | 94
Andrew Jefford | Dark, clear black-red. Lots of warm, dark fruits with a sweet, rooty, earthy, licorice note; a little less resolved, aerial, and pristine than the aromas of the best of its peers, but this is still an aromatic profile of real intrigue. This is a generous wine on the palate: amply fruited, with firm supporting tannins, and with sustained, glowing fruits. A year or two’s extra bottle storage will surely add more aromatic refinement. 2018–24. | 90
