Bruno Besa | Garnet to tawny. Delicate, clean, complex, small red fruits nose, with orange peel, wild strawberries, and hints of dried and fresh herbs. Medium body, with clean small-red-fruit character, the big tannins well supported by the layered fruit. Clean, fragrant finish. | 91
Stephen Brook | The nose is lean and discreet, and with its redcurrant and raspberry aromas, certainly not overblown. Yet the palate is softer than expected, with stern tannins but a distinct lack of acidity and flair. There’s admirable concentration and no lack of fruit, but it remains flat and doesn’t soar from the glass. Chewy and quite long, but it shows little finesse. | 88
Andrew Jefford | Very pale, bright, light garnet red. Fresh, fragrant, and zesty scents of refined red fruits, dry forest underbrush, dried wild mushrooms and wild flowers: hugely enticing. Some creaminess, too: a super scent. On the palate, this is very graceful, lifted, and beguiling, with ample aromatic complexities, poised weight, fine-polished tannins, and singing, ripe acidity: all nuance and understatement. Hard to better this, really, as an expression of place, though it isn’t quite the most concentrated wine in the tasting. The old question: Do we value disposition or accumulation in wine? I tend to come down on the side of the former, which is why I rate this wine so highly. It doesn’t need long keeping and is perfectly ready now. 2018–25. | 94
