Bruno Besa | Pale garnet to tawny. Open, complex, a touch decadent, mature and fairly developed considering the vintage, with prunes and cigar box on the nose, yet inviting and refined. Medium to full body, with a complex prune and herbal palate. Long, with sweet fruit and a complex finish. | 92
Stephen Brook | The nose is blunt, withatouch of tar, as well as fragrant red fruits. Sweet and charming attack, with poised raspberry fruit and good intensity on the mid-palate. This shows purity and drive and, while not very nuanced now, has excellent balance and should develop well. It has the charm of Barbaresco, so its lack of power is no problem. The finish is long, energetic, and persuasive, though it’s probably best enjoyed over the medium term. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Light, clear red. Currant, cherry, and plum fruits of ample ripeness, with some cooked notes among the fresh. On the palate, too, that slightly cooked fruit is in evidence in this rough-and- tumble Barbaresco. Once again, though, it is a wine of great generosity, and would be lots of fun to drink. 2018–23. | 85
