BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Steel-silver in color, with bubbles pearling the glass when first poured. Sweet, fresh scents of roses and freesias; quite a lot of floral notes here. Also a green spring-bulb-like freshness, too. On the palate, the wine is zesty, saline, tonic, like a fruit-infused glass of mineral salts. The acidity here is slightly lower and less driving than for many of its trocken peers; it’s more ripe lime with a little whitecurrant than white grapefruit. Attractive, pure, and sheer, and the perfumes never leave it. The finish brings the mineral salts back into prominence again. | 89

Anne Krebiechl | A hint of passion fruit suggests an appetizing tartness on the nose. The palate follows suit, giving a tropical, fruity twist to a slender, juicy palate. This is incredibly appetizing, with its alluring freshness, full of joyous, easy, citrus tanginess. A clear, clean, pristine summer wine with lasting freshness. | 91

Stephan Reinhardt | Bottled with lots of CO2, and opening like a Weinschorle (wine mixed with seltzers) on the discreet but fresh and clear nose, this is a really interesting wine on the palate. Much more earthy and tight than the first five wines of the tasting, this is a dense and structured, persistently salty Scheurebe, with an intense and persistent finish. Some sweetness here as well, but this 2017 is on a very good way. | 90
