Andrew Jefford | Bright mid-gold. This was an aroma I didn’t expect: fresh, bright, rather herbaceous, full of plant sap, underbrush, and even a whiff of capsicum: How is this possible? Let’s taste... And it is very sweet, a sheer sugar-mouse sweetness, and underneath that sweetness there is that touch of privet hedge that normally means “herbaceous” but that this wine is making me think must be some kind of keynote for Scheurebe in certain locations. It’s all very toothsome, though, and super-sweet and, as such, a very satisfying wine, if not quite as complex and finely woven as the best. | 88
Anne Krebiechl | The nose is an intense picture of frosted, fully ripe apricot, high-toned honey and sharp lemon zest. The palate is intensely, almost tooth-breakingly sweet, but just as full-on when it comes to sharp acidity. There is nothing that is not intense. This has an elixir-like quality that evokes passion fruit, candied lime zest, and the most aromatic blossom honey. | 94
Stephan Reinhardt | The wine starts pretty attractive and clear as well as concentrated on the nose. Dense and piquant on the palate, this is a racy, tight, and even mineral Scheurebe with a lingering salinity and grip. Good length, but good wine? It’s sweet and sour. Keep it for 20 years and be prepared to be either excited or disappointed. | 87
