BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Pale gold in color. Soft, spicy citrus fruits, vanilla, and pork-fat richness; some free sulfur. A relatively discreet aromatic profile for Scheurebe, without the fragrant charm of the best of its peers. Intense, bracing, and very dry on the palate, with driving lemon-lime acidity, but well supported and carried by those fruit notes so there is nothing raw or hard about it. There’s a saline, stony edge, too, which gives the wine additional gastronomic conviction. | 85

Anne Krebiechl | Fresh, bright nose uniting yellow plum fruitiness with a lovely grapefruit streak and an initial dash of conifer. The palate has juicy plum, cut with lively citrus freshness. This is not overtly aromatic on the nose but is immensely juicy on the palate, with a lively, mouthwatering, and energetic citrus character. | 89

Stephan Reinhardt | This bouquet is discreet but fine and elegant, and it is highlighted by slightly flinty and lovley refreshing terroir flavors that add iodine notes of milled stones. The attack on the palate is as round (or slightly sweet) as it is racy-piquant, a combination that leads to an intense and quite powerful finish. On its way, however, the wine is loosing a bit of the purity, finesse, and elegance it was promising on the nose. The acidity also reveals some greenish flavors and a certain shortness on the finish, which is built on power and fruit rather than terroir and balance. Drink over the next five to seven years. | 86
