Andrew Jefford | Mid-gold in color, with soft, rich, doughy fruit scents, almost like Pinot Gris but with a little added musky freshness. Rich, soft, decidedly sweet, but a total charmer; this grape responds so well to a big shake of late-summer residual sugar. Suddenly, the musky edge makes sense in a way that it doesn’t necessarily do when partnered with vertiginous acidity, and the citrus and green-apple fruits fill and purr with the rising tide of sweetness. This isn’t a rivetingly concentrated or detailed wine, but it works very well on its own terms and will provide much satisfaction assuming it isn’t graspingly priced. | 88
Anne Krebiechl | A subtle nose presents as much passion fruit as lemon, but you have to sniff deeply. All is contained and comes with a slightly high- toned air. Sweetness on the palate underlines the ripeness of the fruit while the honeyed, rich edge of botrytis is more than suggested. It is the fine, sharp acidity that balances and highlights the fine fruit. All is held and framed by freshness, while sweetness merely boosts the fruit. Subtle and lovely. | 92
Stephan Reinhardt | Terribly reductive on the nose, with little attraction unless you are looking for an extreme wine (the fermentation stopped with lots of sulfur dioxide). On the palate, this is a sweet and broad, quite piquant and racy Scheu, with an ordinary finish and no real length.| 75
