Simon Field | Deep ruby color, then dark fruit aromatics a little compromised by reduction; behind that, dark chocolate, violets, and ebullient Syrah. Astringent tannin hitherto in the ascendant, the back of the mouth overwhelming the mid-palate. Not overwrought, and promising to open up with time. A large beast, prowling quietly with alarming dexterity. | 95
Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated black-red in color. This has Cabernet-like aromas, with apparent oak, but it is fresh, firm, and enticing, without either underripeness of overripeness. There’s a satisfying meaty/stony edge, too, and even a little floral grace. On the palate, you’ll find beautifully expressed, shapely fruit with poise, freshness, and classicism: outstanding craft here. It’s neither a muscular wine nor one that notably evokes the garrigue, but its centrality of weight and stylistic precision would make it an excellent choice, say, for Bordeaux drinkers who were wanting to see what the Languedoc can offer. Nor do you need to hurry to drink; this will hold very well. Fine-fruited, perfumed satisfactions here. 2018–30. | 93
Jancis Robinson | Blackish crimson. Very dense color. Relatively mellow on the nose. The sweet fruit is not quite married to the sharp acidity and fine tannin. One of the more youthful wines. Tannins push in on the end. Something a bit charred about this embryonic wine. 2020–26. | 88
