Simon Field | Squid-ink black, luminous and pure of hue; nose of blackberry, cassis, and summer flowers; palate has refined, lapidiary tannic backdrop, discretely persuasive, just a little raw at the moment. Black pepper at the back, confident grip, impressive length. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Saturated dark black-red in color. Lifted, pure, fine-grained fruits; aerial, pristine, and alluring blackcurrants, damsons, plums, and elderberries. A very contemporary appeal: the vineyard first, with little winery artifact. Highly attractive. On the palate, this is intense, deep, serious, pure-fruited, and searching— magnificently fruity in itself, but (perhaps even more importantly) those fruits have a complexity and a grain to them that give this real fine-wine appeal. Licorice and other classic root-spices darken the finish to satisfying effect. This is a superb effort. 2018–27. | 93
Jancis Robinson | A particularly lustrous crimson here. Sophisticated, well-integrated blend, with intriguing elements of fruit and minerals (nothing animal). Broad and well balanced with some dried-herb elements. This is a fine wine by any measure, even if there is a little heat on the end. I would be careful not to serve this too warm. A generous charge of tannin on the end suggests future potential. 2018–30. | 90
