Simon Field | Dense purple color, then an attractive nose: forest floor, garrigue, and summer fruits; then, behind just a touch of volatility, there is attractive Syrah fruit, balancing acidity, nicely entwined, and a gentle whiff of distant woodsmoke presaging the fall. Ripeness is all, however, for the moment, and the bucolic scene is finely drawn and persuasively eloquent. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Dense, dark, near-opaque black-red in color. An enticing aromatic profile: pure, lifted, and fresh, with graceful yet complex black fruits deftly shaded by spices and wild- forest complexities: cade, acorn. Much less evident sweet ripeness than for many of its peers. On the palate, this is vivid, searching, and deeply fruity, yet those fruits are poised and lively, almost zesty, with citrus and pomegranate notes. Its less richly textured and more structurally light and dancing than most of its peers, yet its deeply satisfying, too. Here is ample proof that fine Languedoc red doesn’t have to bust anyone’s block. 2018–25. | 92
Jancis Robinson | Dark mid-crimson in color. There is a clarety build to this one. A little akin to ripe cru bourgeois? Sweet start, and big and bold, but without exaggeration. Still quite a bit of tannin but good balance and a rich redcurrant compote sort of flavor. Emphatic and confident. 2018–25. | 89
